Nishvika too gives an impressive performance, and good support comes from Surbhi. Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu Movie Review - film directed by Venkat Prabhu with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. He puts up a genuine performance in Sakath. Suni has managed the right casting with Ganesh, who has come up with a different character. Except for a few repeated scenes, the film relies on the second half where the director pulls off his tricks and succeeds. How the children and a blind teacher (Nishvika) change Baalu’s perspective about the visually impaired, and how the crime unravels is narrated with twists and turns. Reality bites when Baalu enters Drishti school, a school for the blind, and joins as a singing teacher. However, an accident in the vicinity puts Baalu in a spot, and the turning point is when he becomes a witness to a crime. The makers of the reality show, looking for TRP, take advantage by claiming him to be visually impaired, which becomes one part of the story. His romance with anchor Mayuri (Surbhi) manages to get him into a singing competition. Unfortunately, he loses his parents and ends up growing up around an orchestra run by Sadhu (Sadhu Kokila). Overall this film has a refreshing feel to it and is a quite good family drama but the outdated direction makes it for a satisfactory watch. The entire story revolves around Baalu (Ganesh), who aspires to become a singer like SP Balasubramanyam since childhood. The editing must have been more crisper and the length of the film should have been shorter.
The music of the film is good and there are some mesmerizing soundtracks. However the script feels outdated and the acting by the other newcomers could have been better. The three beautiful female protagonists Vaibhavi, Vainidhi & Vaisiri have acted quite well and play good roles in making this women oriented film a success. The cast of the film is quite impressive with many experienced actors like Anant Nag, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rangayana Raghu & Veena Sunder, which becomes the main factor in holding the film from falling apart. There are some scenic views of the Yaana caves in Karnataka and some scenes shot in the rains which are quite enchanting.
The second half is better and is quite emotional at many places. It mainly shows the usual college lifestyle and has nothing much new in it. It is too dramatic at places and the characters and issues he raises - underworld nexus, sentiments, love, fun, action, superstition etc added in this film Drama is an attempt to draw all section. The first half of the film has a slow screenplay which can test your patience.
The story is about the life journey of three college going girls. However there are a very few of those scenes in the movie and most of it shows the usual family & college drama. The film’s trailer was quite promising with some shots of beautiful locales spread across an adventurous journey. “A refreshing film albeit with an outdated direction”
